Getting my typing hands into full swing over Xmas, been transcribing two shows for South West based production company, Red Handed TV. Last year I was lucky enough to assist on the broadcast of the 2010 Monsoon Cup in Malaysia, this year I’m transcribing, which is keeping me busy for a few evenings this week! Although I’m based in Cornwall jobs like this make you realise how fortunate we are in this day and age to have fantastic internet connections, within a short amount of time I had all the video files I needed and was ready to crack on!

For the last 10 days I have been in Malaysia working as a Production Assistant for the 2010 ISAF World Match Racing Tour, which is an annual nine stage sailing competition. The competition itself lasted five days although many of the production crew were there for the pre event set up and de-rigging afterwards. Throughout my time working I ingested over 3,500 clips, assisted with scheduling and helped with various other production duties. As well as making daily You Tube videos, the TV crew were also responsible for outputting constant coverage at the event site, as well as live internet streaming and two live programmes, which were broadcast across many stations throughout 185 countries, including ESPN.
As I sit here writing this its baking hot outside! Yes I’m in Malaysia helping with the media team in covering the 2010 Monsoon Cup, which is part of the World Match Racing Tour. I am working as a production assistant and already the jobs I’ve had to undertake have been quite varied. From getting mobile phones, to ordering food, logging and arranging crew. As the crew is very large constant radio and phone contact has been essential and even though the event isn’t even fully underway yet I am still very busy!
